Wood structure properties of park tree species

Sadržaj predmeta: 1. Macroscopic structure of wood. Main sections and directions in wood. Texture, wire, knots, wood pores, sapwood and pith.
2. Creation of wood in the tree. Primary and secondary growth. Cellular.
3. Wood cells: morphology, dimensions and functions.
4. Microscopic and macroscopic characteristics of conifer wood structure, as well as ring-porous and diffusely porous wood.
5. Diagnostic features in wood identification.
6. Application of modern computer programs (keys) for microscopic and macroscopic identification of wood species, limit possibilities of application of keys, examples.
7. CITES and IUCN RED LIST - international conventions on trade in endangered species of wild animals and plants. Application. Examples.
The subject covers selected genera of park trees belonging to the families Aquifoliaceae, Araucariaceae, Buxaceae, Cupressaceae, Fagaceae, Hippocastanaceae, Juglandaceae, Oleaceae, Pinaceae, Platanaceae, Rosaceae, Salicaceae, Sapindaceae, Taxaceae, Taxodiaceae, Caesalpinioideae, Dipterocarpaceae, Ebanaceae, Fabaceae, Meliaceae, Moraceae, Sapotaceae.
