BASICS OF WOOD KNOWLEDGE and ISPM 15 – DMP
The implementation of phytosanitary programs began at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology under the authorization of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management in 2006 by Article 8, paragraphs (1) and (2) of the Ordinance on phytosanitary requirements that must be met by wood packaging material in international trade (Official Gazette 14/2006), and is related to the application of the international standard ISPM 15. Two levels are envisaged within the framework of the training program. The first level of education focuses on the basics of wood
knowledge and is intended for all those who are not in the wood technology or forestry professions but possess the appropriate professional qualifications and work experience. For such persons, the first level of education is a qualification so that they can access the second level of phytosanitary education and ultimately, upon completion of the education, acquire the qualification of a Persons responsible for plant health protection, or a Plant health professional, according to the current Plant Health Act (Official Gazette 83/22) and the Ordinance on the Official Register of Specialized Entities (Official Gazette 30/2021). The first implementation of the second level of phytosanitary education was on June 29, 2007. So far, 10 education cycles have also been conducted, through which 235 candidates have passed.
