Laboratory of Ecology and Pedology
Teaching and scientific activities take place in the Laboratory of Ecology and Pedology. Among teaching activities, practical classes (laboratory exercises) in the field of Pedology are carried out in the Laboratory for the first year undergraduate students of Forestry, Urban Forestry, Nature Conservation and Environmental Protection. Also, the exercises in Pedology are carried out in the Laboratory for the graduate students of Forestry, Urban Forestry, Nature Conservation and Environmental Protection. In addition, final-year undergraduate and graduate students having adequate affinities, choose the Ecological and Pedological Laboratory as the place and their teachers as mentors for his/her final or master thesis elaboration. Also, students who are particularly interested in scientific research, are allowed to take part in the scientific research work themselves during the regular teaching activities in the Ecological and Pedological Laboratory.
As to the scientific activities, in the Ecological and Pedological Laboratory mainly the researches in the field of soil science are carried out - testing of the physical and chemical properties of soils. That way analysis of granulometric compositions of soil are performed, water drainage, soil acidity, determination of carbonate content, total carbon and nitrogen, metals and metalloid in soil samples.
