Research in Schools / Observing and Photography

This phase of research involved several methods - observing and photographing and talking with teachers and students. The aim was to collect and analyze the existing furniture and equipment in the observed schools, and to find out the attitudes, habits and satisfaction of users - students and teachers in relation to furniture and other elements that are surrounded daily in classrooms and schools. Several polygons were observed – elementary schools in smaller cities and towns in the northern area of New York State. When analyzing the environment, three different types of polygons were identified in terms of equipment conditions and furniture typology: a) interiors at Central New York Public Elementary Schools, b) Groton Elementary School in Groton, and c) outdoor playing.
