Undergraduate Expertise Studies of Wood Technology

The duration of undergraduate studies is six semesters (3 years, 180 ECTS-credits)

Upon completion of the undergraduate studies, the student receives a certificate stating the completion of studies and the acquisition of a title according to the course of studies: Bachelor Expertise of Wood Technology.

Expertise Studies of Wood Technology provides basic knowledge from a wide range of technical and natural sciences, as well as the professional knowledge and skills required by the modern development of the companies specialized in wood technology.  Wood is a challenging, complex and renewable natural material that represents a significant potential for Croatian economy. The use of new technologies increases the production efficiency and makes the wood industry profitable. Due to its raw-material basis, the Republic of Croatia has real opportunities to increase the production of wood products with the aim of   increasing the sale and export of final wood products and reducing the import of final wood products.

Competencies: Foundations of Engineering (mathematics, physics, chemistry), the basis of materials science (wood anatomy, the use of wood, other materials), the basics of technological properties and processes (technological processes in wood processing and furniture production), computers and the use of computers in production (informatics, CAD, CAM, CAP, CIM, NU,...), organization and economics (integration of knowledge for middle management in the enterprises for wood processing and furniture production).


Job Qualifications: Bachelor Expertise of Wood Technology will be qualified to coordinate the production in all phases of the treatment and technological process, for the activities related to the production preparation, production planning, product and production quality control.  They will be particularly qualified in the use of computer in design, in termination of production and in introducing and programming of the complex processes with the computer-based support.  The Bachelor's Expertise of Wood Technology jobs do not match the jobs of the bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Wood Technology.


The students at the Expertise Studies of Wood Technology will be able to participate in horizontal mobility within the areas of the Biotechnical Sciences and European Universities the University of Zagreb or the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology has signed the Cooperation Agreement with.


The Studies are completed by collecting 180 ECTS credits, i.e. by successfully taking all prescribed exams, completing the professional practice and submitting the final paper in the form of an individually written thesis.
