Professional Practical Training


Implementation of Professional Practical Training at the Department of Forestry

 

Professional practice is a mandatory and integral part of the undergraduate (duration 5 days) and graduate (duration 15 days) study programs of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology.

 

Head of professional practice: heads of undergraduate and graduate studies (until the appointment of the head of the Office for Professional Practice and Career Counseling).

Vice-deans of the department: persons responsible for planning students' professional practice.

Employer: business entity with which the student performs professional practice.

Mentor of professional practice: a person outside the Faculty, employed by the employer, who directly advises and monitors the student's work during professional practice.Mandatory procedures before starting the internship:

  1. The student selects and contacts the employer and arranges the internship according to the published list of employers with whom cooperation agreements have been signed and according to his/her area of ​​interest. He/she submits an Application for approval of internship to the selected employer (an example is available on the internship website in the list of attachments) in which, in agreement with the internship mentor, a plan of activities within the internship framework is determined. The employer confirms the Application and the student then submits it in printed form to the head of study, who maintains the list of internship students per study. The confirmed application will be submitted to the head of study (internship leader) by the end of March of the current academic year.
  2. The heads of study report to the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs on the list of students and selected/confirmed employers.
  3. The Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs contacts individuals in individual companies according to the agreements concluded and submits information on the total number of students who have agreed on internships in individual companies.

 

 

Mandatory procedures during and after completion of Professional Practical Training:

 

  1. Each student independently keeps a Professional Practice Diary - a document describing the tasks and tasks (supported by photographs) that the student performed during the professional practice. Each individual day of professional practice must be described in at least 70 (seventy) words. The Professional Practice Diary (hereinafter referred to as the Diary) is located on the Professional Practice website in the list of attachments, and is available in digital form to make it easier for students to complete.
  2. Within 7 (seven) days after completing the professional practice, the student submits the Diary for review to the mentor in the selected company.
  3. Upon completion of the professional practice in the selected company, the student requests certification of the Certificate of Professional Practice and certification of the Form with signatures (examples are available on the Professional Practice website in the list of attachments). The student submits the Professional Practice Diary in digital form (.doc or .pdf). to the study supervisor (professional practice supervisor) within 14 (fourteen) days of completing the professional practice. The student submits the certified Certificate of completed professional practice and the Form with signatures in printed form to the head of studies (head of professional practice) within 14 (fourteen) days from the end of the professional practice.
  4. If the head of the study program (head of professional practice) determines that changes need to be made to the professional practice diary, he or she may request that the student complete the diary, which the student is required to do within 7 (seven) days.
  5. It is recommended to complete the professional practice by September 1 of the academic year in which the professional practice subject is enrolled in order to complete the entire procedure by the end of the academic year.
  6. After submitting the diary, the head of the study program (head of professional practice) reviews and verifies the diary and, within 14 (fourteen) days of submission, confirms that the student has completed the tasks and responsibilities of the professional practice.
  7. After verifying the student's diary, the head of professional practice forwards the work diary via the Faculty's Student Office to the vice-dean of the department, who then verifies it. The certificate of completed professional practice and the Form with signatures remain in the records of the Faculty's Student Office.
