Sadržaj predmeta: Nowadays, waste is the main problem in environmental protection. National and European legislation covers waste management in detail and uses the term waste management. The subject includes an explanation of this term, measures, tasks and goals that should be implemented in order to achieve it. The main reasons are the reduction of the harmful impact of waste on the environment, monitoring of waste, reduction of quantities during generation and disposal, and economic evaluation of waste. Valuation is expected to be achieved through the creation of such circumstances on the market that treat most waste materials with secondary raw materials. In this case, numerous goals from the National Environmental Protection Strategy and the basic guidelines of sustainable development are achieved. Inadequate waste management in the Republic of Croatia includes: unsanitary waste disposal, low level of recycling, relatively small share of waste processing technologies, insufficient monitoring of waste flows and a large number of inherited and unresolved problems related to waste.
