Sadržaj predmeta: The course General and Landscape Ecology has five parts, fundamentals of general and landscape ecology, functioning of forest ecosystems, relationships between organisms and ecological factors in forest ecosystems, relationships between organisms in forest ecosystems and application of general and landscape ecology in forest ecosystem management. The first part covers the basics of ecology, the historical development of ecology and its sub-branches, relationship and position of ecology with other scientific disciplines, significance of ecology for human civilization, global and regional ecological problems and introduction into landscape ecology. The second part includes concept of ecosystem, biological relationships, environment and habitat in forest ecosystems, processes of production and decomposition in ecosystems, endangerment and decay of ecosystems, energy cycling, changes and stability of landscapes and types of biogeochemical cycling of matter. The third part includes ecological patterns, physical factors crucial for the development of organisms in forest ecosystems, light, heat, air, water, nutrients, climate, relief, soil, geological substrate and mechanical factors. The fourth part contains organisms in ecosystems, plants, animals, microorganisms, relationships of organisms at the population and community levels, types of interactions and types in ecosystems. The fifth part includes analysis of forest ecosystems and landscape elements, ecological problems in forest ecosystems and related landscapes, protection and improvement of organisms and their habitats, forest ecosystem services and management.
